This year our Police and Crime Commissioner Community Initiative Fund has amended its criteria to reflect and build on the Police and Crime Plan, Safer and Stronger Together, 2024 – 2029
Although the criteria has shifted slightly, many of the previous themes remain, with the addition of new areas to ensure community groups can access funds for emerging concerns and issues.
At its heart the fund is all about communities working together to make life better for our residents
It is a privilege to serve as your Police and Crime Commissioner. As a resident, I care deeply about our city and county and want to do everything possible to ensure our communities thrive.
Those who live and work in Derby and Derbyshire know their communities best and I would like to harness their skills, experience and knowledge to help our county flourish.
Derbyshire is fortunate to have a wealth of passionate, community-focused organisations who care deeply about helping local people.
We all want to live in communities where we are safe and feel safe. But there is no single solution or agency that can realistically achieve this alone. My approach places value on our people and recognises the invaluable contribution of our many community partners. The priorities in my Police and Crime Plan reflect the views of thousands of residents and businesses from across the City and the County.
Foundation Derbyshire are working with the OPCC to seek applications from groups which are looking to:
- Raise awareness and improve education of the issues and the types of violence and abuse against women and girls.
- Support women and girls who have been affected by violence and abuse
- Safeguard vulnerable people and children and young people from exploitation in all forms
- Promote and educate communities on the subject of online safety
- Work to tackle substance misuse, including alcohol. This could include projects that generate awareness as a preventative measure, as well as direct rehabilitation pathways.
- Look to reduce anti-social behaviour and support young people via diversionary activities, mentoring, volunteering or offering new opportunities and experiences for personal growth
- Community groups looking to develop projects which increase local safety and reduce the instances of crime
