Last Friday we were out and about visiting projects funded by our Derbyshire Freemasons Fund.
First, we popped across to the fantastic Derby-based charity umbrella, where we helped purchase a new hoist. Umbrella provides critical respite services and parental support to mum’s, dads, siblings, grandparents and other carers of children and young adults with a range of learning difficulties and severe physical disabilities.
Next up we swung down to Swadlincote and caught up with the Bus Cafe. They offer a meals-on-wheels service delivering hot, nutritious food to elderly residents who might be isolated or housebound. We also met their rather wonderful knit & natter and stitching group. These social clubs support residents from local care homes plus items they sell at local markets go back into providing community care for the elderly.
The Derbyshire Freemasons Fund, administered by Foundation Derbyshire, is open now for applications for their next meeting in September. Grants of up to £1,000 are available for equipment and resources to improve your service.
However, if it is running costs you are after i.e. rent, transport, volunteer expenses then take a look at some of our other funds and ring the grants team on 01773 525860.
