What brought you to Foundation Derbyshire?
The essence of my professional life as solicitor barrister and judge was to help people through a crisis of one sort or another. So similar and yet so different from the world of philanthropy!
What excites you about Foundation Derbyshire?
I continue to be amazed by the range of organisations and activities of our grant applicants – and the care of the staff and panel members who work on those applications.
There is so much good work going on out there in Derbyshire. For me it is quite simply gratifying to be involved in supporting those who work for their communities and for those in need.
From 1977 Peter Pimm practiced as a solicitor and became the managing partner of a prestigious firm in London with about 100 partners and staff. In 1990 he moved to Derbyshire and started from scratch again, this time as a barrister.
He practiced in various courts in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and London. In 1999 he was appointed as a Recorder (a part-time Judge who continues to practice as an advocate) and this continued until his retirement in 2019.
He has been a Trustee of the Foundation for 8 years and Chair of the Grants Committee since 2017.
