The Belper Youth Market Story

< Back to all Stories

In May a local group in Belper tried something new. They wanted to give young people with an interest in business and a flair for innovation a chance to shine.

For these young entrepreneurs, the Belper Youth Market was born. Funding of £1,000 was awarded to cover the costs of stall & marquee hire, insurance and advertising.

As well as offering a chance to sell their goods and promote their businesses there was also an enterprise agency on site. The agency delivered workshops, advice and information to young people already in business or to those with a business idea but uncertain of where to start. The hope is that young people visiting the market could be inspired to tap into their own skills and talents and consider self-employment.

It’s been great to get advice, everyone has been so helpful.

It’s great to see our product is proving popular, we’ve had some sales and we’re really happy to have had the chance to be here.
